New 3U CompactPCI Single-Board
Computer from GE Fanuc Provides High Performance with Low Power Consumption
Huntsville,
Ala. -- April 23, 2003 -- GE Fanuc Automation Americas, Inc.,
an affiliate of GE Industrial Systems, today introduced the new 3U CompactPCI® single-board computer (SBC)
- which offers high performance with low power consumption. This new SBC
provides a low-power, 333 MHz Geode GX1 processor, integrated 2D graphics,
and Fast Ethernet controller, supporting 10BaseT and 100BaseTX interfaces.
The Geode GX1 processor dissipates very little power to operate over a
wide range of temperature and environmental conditions. The 3U CompactPCI
single-board computer is ideal for many industrial applications such as
data acquisition and control, simulation and training, and transportation.

our customers' needs for a cost-effective, compact SBC with less than
10 W total power dissipation, fanless operation, and minimal power requirements,"
said Douglas Albert, vice president, embedded systems, GE Fanuc Automation.
This new single-board computer offers up to 256 Mbyte PC133 SDRAM and
provides an extensive array of peripherals that maximize versatility.
The CompactFlash card socket accommodates types 1 and 2 IDE compatible
devices, including flash disk modules up to 512 Mbyte capacity or an IBM
Microdrive hard disk up to 1 Gbyte. Other peripherals include Ultra DMA/33
IDE and floppy drive interfaces, a high-performance 16550-compatible serial
port, enhanced parallel printer port with ECP/EPP, two USB ports and PS/2-style
keyboard and mouse. Real-time features include watchdog timer, three 16-bit
user-programmable timers, 32 Kbyte of nonvolatile SRAM, and real-time
clock. Operating system support is available for Windows NT®Windows® 2000, VxWorks, and Linux.
