Widespread Customer Adoption Continues for Invensys’ ArchestrA® Technology Via Products, Projects and Partners 32 Leading Global Companies Implementing Projects Built on ArchestrA Technology; Invensys Demonstrates ArchestrA Technology in Microsoft and OPC Booth

ISA TRADESHOW, HOUSTON, Oct. 21, 2003 -- Invensys announced today that customers continue to adopt ArchestrA technology with new Wonderware products, Invensys projects and third-party partners.

Wonderware has been shipping the Industrial Application Server, which is built on ArchestrA technology, for nine months. To date, 32 leading global companies across a broad range of industries -- including oil and gas, food and beverage, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, paper, automotive, steel, electronics and utilities -- are implementing it. Recent orders include 3M, SAB/Miller and Jim Beam Brands as well as two embedded OEMs. These diverse customer project applications include remote SCADA operations, plant-wide supervisory control, plant intelligence, regulatory compliance, production management and enterprise collaboration. In addition, Wonderware has shipped more than 2,500 copies of FactorySuite A² (“A-squared”) software featuring the ArchestrA integrated development environment to customers as part of its comprehensive software support agreements. The “A-squared” indicates the presence of ArchestrA technology.

More than 120 third-party systems and plant networks are now classified as “ArchestrA Ready,” allowing a wide range of existing plant data sources to plug into ArchestrA applications. A total of nine Invensys and third-party systems offer even higher levels of ArchestrA integration. These include offerings that are “Integrated with ArchestrA” for advanced communications and diagnostics, and offerings “Built on ArchestrA” for instant integration of the most common industrial application functions such as plant modeling, configuration, alarming, historization, scripting and IT integration using Microsoft® .NET technology.

Invensys also offers a Certified ArchestrA Systems Integrator Program for FactorySuite A² products. Through this program, hundreds of systems integrators have been trained on the latest FactorySuite A² products that are built on ArchestrA technology. As project experience is gained, some have already passed the rigorous certification criteria. To date, Wonderware application engineers and systems integrators have contributed 28 downloadable and reusable application object templates to the ArchestrA Application Object Warehouse to facilitate rapid application assembly and re-use. Invensys continues to work closely with Microsoft Corp. to ensure that customer applications built on the ArchestrA software architecture meet the mission-critical needs of industry while evolving effectively as the Microsoft Windows® Server System and Microsoft .NET technologies evolve. Microsoft and Invensys recently formed an alliance in which, among other things, they will work together to market and sell Invensys products and solutions that use ArchestrA technology.
