Invensys’ Wonderware and ArchestrA Business Units Launch ArchestrA Community Website

LAKE FOREST, Calif., Oct. 22, 2003 -- The Wonderware and ArchestrA business units of Invensys Systems, Inc. have launched the ArchestrA Community Website at www.ArchestrA.biz. The site is designed to serve as an applications aid and communication tool for people who are interested in leveraging ArchestrA technology. It also serves as a resource center for application engineers and product developers and a central repository for ArchestrA technical and application information.

The new website promotes the use and application of third-party and Invensys products that integrate with and build upon the ArchestrA software architecture, including FactorySuite A² (“A-squared”), I/A Series A² and more than 120 other third-party product lines.

“ArchestrA.biz is a focal point where customers, systems integrators, OEMs, independent software vendors and Invensys can all share technical information, application knowledge, and product details -- creating a virtual community of interest for offerings that leverage the ArchestrA software architecture,” said Mark Davidson, vice president of marketing for Invensys’ Wonderware and ArchestrA business units.

“This community site can greatly assist in the project design and engineering cycle by functioning as a central repository for ArchestrA application objects and as a bi-directional discussion forum for applications assistance and feedback into the ArchestrA technology development processes.”

ArchestrA.biz serves as an important communication forum for application engineers applying products that use ArchestrA technology, as well as product developers that build upon the technology. The website hosts five forums that facilitate communication regarding the use and implementation of ArchestrA technology with categories ranging from application development, technical support, industry topics, products and vendors. Users can post and edit new topics, and reply to postings in the ArchestrA forums to assist in applications and product development. Application consultants from the Wonderware and ArchestrA business units moderate these forums.

ArchestrA technology offers the industrial automation and information marketplace significant advances in “reusable engineering” by providing application engineers a plant-centric, modular approach to application development. Applications can be easily assembled from a library of standard, reusable components called objects without writing or compiling new code. In addition, lifecycle ownership costs are reduced due to built-in software distribution and management capabilities.

A key component of the new ArchestrA Community Website is the ArchestrA application object warehouse, an expanding resource of downloadable ArchestrA objects available today via shareware. In coming months, additional industrial application objects will be available for purchase. The ArchestrA application object warehouse is not just for Invensys products: Third parties are encouraged to submit their own object templates that are built on ArchestrA technology for review and inclusion in the warehouse.

In addition, ArchestrA.biz provides information on industry news and events. Users can access customer application stories, current news articles in industry trade publications and links to other Web sites offering additional information related to ArchestrA technology.
