Invensys’
Wonderware Business Unit Launches Online ArchestrA® Technology
Test Drive Participants Experience Hands-on ArchestrA Technology
Demonstration Using FactorySuite A² Products
LAKE FOREST, Calif., Oct. 23, 2003
– Wonderware, a business unit of Invensys Systems, Inc.,
today announced that it is offering a free online “test
drive” of ArchestrA technology using Wonderware FactorySuite
A² (“A-squared”) products -- including the
Industrial Application Server, IndustrialSQL Server historian
and market-leading InTouch visualization software.
Participants can log on to the test
drive website (www.invensys.com/archestra) to participate
in a hands-on demonstration of a Wonderware FactorySuite A²
application built around version 1.5 of the Industrial Application
Server. They will experience how the ArchestrA architecture
eases and accelerates system setup and ongoing application
development. The Industrial Application Server is the first
product built on the ArchestrA architecture.
“This unique opportunity will
give potential customers, systems integrators (SIs) and OEMs
the opportunity to learn first-hand how the ArchestrA architecture
‘works behind the scenes’ of the latest FactorySuite
A² products,” said Mark Davidson, vice president
of marketing for Invensys’ Wonderware and ArchestrA
business units.
“To use an automotive analogy,
we know that our customers are in an on-going race against
the competition to improve efficiency and product quality
and increase profits. We help our customers win the race by
offering an integrated race team of FactorySuite A² products
and a formidable Industrial Application Server race car, all
driven by the powerful, state-of-the-art engine – the
ArchestrA software architecture.”
The interactive test drive shows participants
how to set up and install a system network, create supervisory
control applications and re-use templates for a plant-centric,
modular approach to application development. With the Industrial
Application Server, new applications are easily assembled
from a library of standard, reusable components, or objects,
without writing or compiling new code.
The online ArchestrA technology test
drive can be completed at the user’s pace during multiple
login sessions. A series of five test drive modules illustrates
how simple it is to create a system network and configure
an entire plant application model using ArchestrA technology.
Test drivers also learn how to modify and maintain applications
with built-in change management and remote software distribution
facilities.
“The ArchestrA test drive clearly
demonstrates how ArchestrA technology puts the ‘engine’
back into your engineering toolset for unprecedented levels
of personnel productivity,” Davidson said. “And
one of the best things about this software is that it already
works with virtually all of the systems and networks that
are installed in customers’ plants by utilizing a broad
set of standard connectivity tools, including greater than
1,000 I/O Servers, OPC® Servers and DataAccess Servers.”
