Innovative
Technology Test Drive Introduces Plant Engineers and Systems Integrators
to ArchestrA Technology through Hands-On Demonstration
Engineer Wins BMW Z4 Sports Car through Online Promotional Campaign
LAKE
FOREST, Calif. -- The Wonderware and ArchestrA business units of
Invensys Systems, Inc. today announced that approximately 5,500
people have participated in the ArchestrA Test Drive demonstration
program to date. This hands-on test drive gives people the opportunity
to experience how the ArchestrA architecture accelerates application
development through a sample application featuring the Wonderware
Industrial Application Server and other FactorySuite A² products,
such as the IndustrialSQL Server historian and InTouch visualization
software.
The
Wonderware and ArchestrA business units promoted the ArchestrA Test
Drive by offering all qualified participants, including engineers
and systems integrators who completed the test drive, the chance
to win a 2003 BMW Z4 sports car. The winner was randomly selected
from the list of qualified participants shortly after the conclusion
of the promotion, which ended Nov. 30, 2003.
The
winner was David Gowanlock, a 36-year-old engineer from Alberta,
Canada. Gowanlock works for the Edmonton, Alberta office of Matrikon
Inc., an IT solutions provider.
When
informed that he won the BMW Z4 sports car, Gowanlock said, “I've
been using and installing Wonderware products now for about eight
years and honestly took the test drive because I was interested
in learning more about ArchestrA technology. Because I am a controls
integrator, the development time and cost savings inherent in ArchestrA
technology were evident to me right away, and I look forward to
having the opportunity to use it on a future project.”
“On
a more personal note, now that I've overcome my initial shock of
winning, I have a smile that you could not beat off with a stick.
I can't believe that I'm actually getting my midlife crisis car
while I still have hair! Thanks.”
Even
though the BMW promotion is over, anyone who would like to experience
how the ArchestrA architecture accelerates application development
can still access the ArchestrA Test Drive via www.invensys.com/archestra.
The
interactive test drive shows participants how to set up and install
a system network, create supervisory control applications and re-use
application object templates for a plant-centric, modular approach
to application development. With the Industrial Application Server,
new applications are easily assembled from a library of standard,
reusable components, or objects, without writing or compiling new
code.
“The
ArchestrA test drive clearly demonstrates how ArchestrA technology
puts the ‘engine’ back into your engineering toolset
for unprecedented levels of personnel productivity,” said
Mark Davidson, vice president of global marketing for Invensys’
Wonderware and ArchestrA business units. “One of the best
things about the Industrial Application Server software is that
it can already work with virtually all of the systems and networks
that are installed in customers’ plants by utilizing a broad
set of standard connectivity tools, including greater than 1,000
I/O Servers, OPC® Servers and DataAccess Servers.”
